A quick recap, back in January Joe and his buddy Daryl were excited to get their hands on the new RABO (Rotary-All-By-One) meter by Elster Honeywell. Their current stock of Elster meters was missing something…based on experience from past sites:

Basics of Positive Displacement Principle
This principle projects volumetric measurements by displacing finite volumes of gas. Positive displacement happens within a cavity formed between the meter’s internal housing and its rotating impellers. The counter-rotating impellers move as a “figure 8” and turn due to the pressure dropping as downstream gas is consumed. The rotating impellers separate flowing gas into small, infinite volumes counted using a mechanical index.
